On December 23rd Minecraft fans will have the chance to pick up a DVD copy of 2 Player Productions' documentary, Minecraft: The Story of Mojang. This follows the release of Minecraft The Story of Mojang for Xbox 360 on Saturday, December 22.



Fangamer will offer the DVD for $20.  xrplay The first 7,000 copies will be packaged in a custom "dirtbrown" case and will come with an reversible cover as well as a code for a 720p HD free download. You can stream the film or buy it directly from the official site. After that you can return to playing Minecraft proper - that massive lava tower isn't likely to create itself.



WORLDWIDE - On Sunday, December 23rd at 12:00am EST (9pm PST/11pm GMT/10pm CET) Minecraft: The Story of Mojang will be available for sale worldwide on DVD through Fangamer and digital download and streaming at theminecraftmovie.com, powered by Redux.



Fangamer will sell the DVD version of this film for $20.00 USD. The first 7000 copies will include a limited-edition custom-dirt brown DVD case, a reversible cover featuring unique b-side artwork, and a redemption code which will enable you to get a complimentary 720p copy. Redux is a digital content provider, will offer the film as a download-to-own option, and streaming across the internet mobile, tablets, and connected TVs for $8.00 USD.



Saturday, December 22nd, at 8:00 PM EST (5pm PST/7pm GMT/8pm CT), Minecraft will be broadcast live on Xbox Live in the U.S. and U.K. All Xbox Live Gold members will get the film for free cost.



The documentary follows Markus Persson, the Minecraft creator who gained fame in the year 2011. It also focuses on the complexities of building an online game company. Minecraft continues to be a worldwide phenomenon with sales of more than 17.5 million copies around the world.



Minecraft: The Story of Mojang was funded by 3,641 backers via Kickstarter.com and took almost two years to produce. Since the film was crowd-funded, 2 Player Productions decided to abandon the traditional methods of distribution and screenings at festivals.
